Sterile Vision Launches New Partnership with Nazareth Prep

The company, founded by two UPMC orthopedic residents, will offer students the opportunity to explore the field of medical technology.

PITTSBURGH (August 16, 2022) – Beginning this fall, Sterile Vision will host five students from Nazareth Prep High School as part of the school’s Internship Program. The interns will work under the direction of Sterile Vision staff to learn the fundamentals of data annotation, gain an understanding of augmented reality systems, and get an inside look at the medical applications for Sterile Vision’s work. The interns will not only use their internship as an opportunity to learn more about life after high school but will also serve a critical role in the next phase of development for a cutting-edge new company.

Sterile Vision, founded in 2020 by two UPMC orthopedic residents, Stephen P. Canton and Dukens LaBaze, develops augmented reality applications to optimize surgical tool inventory and deployment in operating rooms. Over the past two years, Sterile Vision has collected data in a mock operating room environment. Their next phase of development involves annotating data to prepare it for practical application.
