We are proud to share that the 2025 AOSSM Playmaker Grant, in the amount of $25,000, has been awarded to our UPMC Sports Medicine team for their study on shoulder biomechanics. This research grant opportunity aims to advance exploratory projects by providing start-up funding, seed money, bridge/gap funding, or supplemental funding for an ambitious investigative team.
The winning project, “Dislocation- and Surgery-Induced Plasticity of the Glenoid Track,” was led by orthopaedic sports medicine fellow Dr. Tomoya (Tommy) Ono, with Dr. Jonathan Hughes serving as senior author and presenter. Collaborators on the study include Drs. Richard Debski, Volker Musahl, and Albert Lin. This study was conducted in the Orthopaedic Robotics Laboratory.
