We are pleased to recognize Pitt Ortho alumni Dukens LaBaze, MD and current resident Douglass Tucker, MD, recipients of the JRGOS Orthopaedic Surgery Resident and Medical Student Research Competition Award. The competition was held on March 13, 2025 as part of the JRGOS 2025 Annual Awards and Symposiums at the AAOS Annual Meeting in San Diego. Dr. LaBaze's research on "Eliminating Racial Disparities- Evaluating Utilization and Outcomes of Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor agonists in Total Joint Arthroplasty Patients" took first place and Dr. Tucker's research "Complication Rates in Total Knee Arthroplasty Patients on Glp-1 Agonists versus Prior Bariatric Surgery : A Comparison Study" took third.
