This year's orthopedic academy meeting (AAOS) in Chicago was a huge success for the Department of Orthopedic surgery and UPMC. We had great representation by faculty and residents with over 50 lectures, courses, and appearances in the program.
The late Freddie Fu was honored by the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society for women in orthopedics with the renaming of their he-for-she award. Dr. Fu was a huge driving force and supporter of women in orthopedics and our own Dr. Mark Baratz was the recipient of the first RJOS he-for-she award in 2020.
Drs. MaC Hogan and Volker Musahl were invited to accept the award on behalf of Freddie Fu, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Fu family.
