Robin West, MD, (Sports Med '03) is first female lead physician to win the World Series

Dr. Robin West was featured in the December 2019 issue of AAOS Now as the first female lead physician to win the World Series.  Dr. West is Director of Sports Medicine for the Washington Redskins, and is only one of two female head orthopedic surgeons in the NFL.  She also serves as lead team physician for the Washington Nationals and is the only head female physician in Major League Baseball.

Formerly with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. West is currently Medical Director of Inova Sports Medicine and holds an appointment as Associate Professor at both Georgetown University Medical Center and Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

Dr. West previously served as assistant orthopedic team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers and also served as team physician for the athletic department at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
