PittOrtho and UPMC Sports Med Shine at ISAKOS 2025 in Munich

Our PittOrtho/UPMC Orthopaedic Care teams were busy at this year's 2025 ISAKOS Congress. Dr. Albert Lin led a scientific session and also co-chaired a Meet The Experts panel on shoulders. Dr.Volker Musahl led sessions on Newclip Technics, and moderated scientific sessions and a panel on ACL Tibial Slope. Dr. Jonathan Hughes also moderated a session, was a panel participant and gave a podium talk.  We are excited to share that two members of our PittOrtho and UPMC Sports Medicine family received honors at the 2025 ISAKOS Congress in Munich!

Dr. Enes Kayaalp, Sports Fellow '24, was awarded the Jan Gillquist Scientific Research Award for his outstanding research on tibial slope change over time. This award recognizes excellence in clinical science and honors the legacy of Dr. Gillquist, one of the pioneers of arthroscopic surgery.

Dr. Armin Runer, Research Fellow with Dr. Musahl, received the Albert Trillat Young Investigator’s Award for his work on meniscus suture spacing. He's also been awarded the ISAKOS John J. Joyce award for best arthroscopy paper.

The ISAKOS Congress is one of the premier international meetings for orthopaedic sports medicine, arthroscopy, and knee surgery, bringing together leading researchers and clinicians from around the globe. We’re incredibly proud to see PittOrtho and UPMC Sports Medicine represented at this level and congratulate Drs. Kayaalp and Runer on their well-deserved recognition.
