The UPMC Hip Preservation research group, led by Drs. Craig Mauro and Michael McClincy, shared multiple pieces of research and studies that addressed a broad range of topics within hip preservation at this year's ISHA – The Hip Preservation Society meeting, held in Washington, D.C., October 17-19, 2024. ISHA is an international organization dedicated to advancing hip preservation surgery and improving patient care by promoting education, research, and global collaboration.
The team’s presentations included lectures on lesser trochanter osteotomy for ischiofemoral impingement, the use of bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) for hip chondrolabral pathology, and the biomechanics of hip movement and stability under various physiological conditions. Our dedication to research and improving outcomes for our patients was certainly embodied by our Pitt-UPMC members in attendance this year, including: Dr. Sean Meredith (Sports Medicine Fellow 2019), Dr. Ariana Lott (Sports Medicine Fellow 2024), Dr. Ting Cong, Dr. Keelan Enseki, and Dr. Tyler Hauer (Current Sports Medicine Fellow).
