Pitt Ortho attends 2022 ESSKA Congress

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery had an extremely successful ESSKA Congress in Paris. We had a total of 35 presentations, including a highlight lecture, and won 3 awards. 

100% of the presidential line was Pittsburgh trained, past past president Romain Seil ('96, Luxembourg), past president David Dejour ('93, Lyon France), President Jacques Menetrey ('98, Geneva, Switzerland), and first vice president Roland Becker ('01, Brandenburg Germany)

We hosted a Pittsburgh – ESSKA alumni reunion remembering Dr. Freddie Fu with a more than 60 alumni and friends in attendance.

Three of our international fellows won awards this week:

Kanto Nagai ('19, Kobe, Japan): KSSTA Jon Karlsson Researcher Award for Clinical Science
Philipp Winkler ('20, Munich, Germany): Best Paper in Ligament and Biomechanics
Gian Andrea Lucidi ('21, Bologna, Italy): The Young Researcher Award in Clinical Science
