The recent American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Meeting, held October 16-19 in San Antonio, was a great showing for our Pitt and UPMC orthopaedic care teams. ASES is a closed society where members are elected based on a rigorous peer-review process. Among Pitt-UPMC faculty representatives, Dr. Justin Arner delivered a podium presentation, Dr. Albert Lin led two instructional course lectures (ICLs), a panel, and a lunch workshop, and Dr. Matt Kelly of UPMC Pinnacle also led an ICL. Other Pitt-UPMC faculty participants included Dr. Christopher Schmidt and Dr. Nathan Formaini.
The meeting was another opportunity for Pitt-UPMC alumni to shine, including Dr. Greg Gasbarro and Dr. Josh Port, both former residents, and sports alum Dr. Andy Sheean, who led an ICL and participated in a panel. Dr. Leighann Panico, a UPMC Pinnacle resident alum, presented an ICL. ASES was also a great opportunity to catch up with friends and contemporaries across the nation, includes colleagues from Columbia University, Rothman Institute and Mayo Clinic - Arizona. Our team looks forward to the next ASES!
