PICUP Programs Bring Relief to UPMC Physicians

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the median medical school debt of the class of 2021 was $200,000, and that’s not including the cost of their undergraduate education. This burden unequally affects those who are underrepresented in medicine, even as they follow their passions to better serve their communities.  Dr. MaCalus V. Hogan serves as co-chair of the Physician Inclusion Council at UPMC and Pitt (PICUP) and worked alongside various development task forces across UPMC to determine key elements of the Physician Student Loan Repayment Program, a program that aims to provide student loan repayment support to UPMC and Pitt physicians.

Check out the coverage on PICUP and the Repayment Program in UPMC’s First Friday February edition, out now.
