Passing of Hua Feng (Sports Med Research Fellow '02)

It is with deepest sorrow that we share the news that Hua Feng, MD, passed away on May 20, 2020 at the age of 54.

Dr. Feng graduated from Beijing Medical University (School of Medicine, Peking University) in 1991 and worked at Beijing Jishuitan hospital for his entire career. He was a visiting sports medicine fellow at UPMC with Dr. Freddie Fu in 2002. He was named the chief of the Department of Sports Medicine at Beijing Jishuitan in 2005. He was a professor in the Peking University School of Medicine; President-elect of the Chinese Society of Sports Medicine; International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) member; and consultant of Asia-Pacific Orthpaedic Society for Sports Medicine (APOSSM). He was an editor in American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM); Asia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation, and Technology (AP-SMART); Joints; and Knee Surgery and Related Research (KSRR). He was appointed as a national team consultant for China in 2006, and worked diligently for all national teams before 2008 (Beijing), 2012 (London) and 2016 (Rio de Janiero) Olympic Games. He was one the best sports surgeons in China, and was one of the founders of the sports medicine department at Beijing Jishuitan hospital. For the past 29 years he devoted his whole professional career to the clinical study and scientific research of sports medicine. He performed more than 10,000 knee arthroscopy cases as primary surgeon. His elite expertise and cutting-edge theories on multi-ligamentous knee injury and patellar dislocations are cherished by colleagues worldwide. He held numerous research grants, and he authored more than 100 publications over his career.

He was a noble surgeon, enthusiastic researcher, devoted educator, brilliant leader and beloved brother. Our condolences to his family.
