Dr. Gloria Beim (Sports '96) served as Chief Medical Officer for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Dr. Beim is pictured below (left photos) with the men’s basketball team. The USA men's wheelchair basketball team defeated Spain 68-52 and winning their first gold medal in the event in 28 years.
A 1996 graduate of the UPMC Sports Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Beim was honored by the US Olympic Committee to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Dr. Beim also serves as Chief Medical Officer, Team USA Winter Olympics 2014; Team Physician, Western State Colorado University; President, Alpine Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine; President, Alpine Surgery Center; and is the Official Medical Provider US Ski & Snowboard Association.
