Dr. Fabio Catani Holds Grand Rounds

This past Wednesday, we were honored to welcome Dr. Fabio Catani, Chief of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Modena and Reggio-Emilia in Modena, Italy, as our Grand Rounds guest lecturer.

Dr. Catani presented his talk titled “The Challenge of Soft Tissue Balancing During UKA & TKA Surgery,” and enjoyed time with our faculty, staff and residents.

In addition to his international leadership in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Catani holds an Adjunct Professorship within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently collaborating with our Biomechanics and BDL Laboratories to study how soft tissues heal and behave following knee surgery. The team’s shared goal is to advance surgical precision and enhance patient recovery after knee reconstruction procedures.

We are grateful to Dr. Catani for sharing his expertise and continuing to strengthen the international research partnership between PittOrtho and our UPMC partners in Italy.
