Keiron Pollard, the 28 year-old medium-fast pace bowler and big-hitting batsman from Trinidad and Tobago, is a well-known all-rounder rising to new heights with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Drafted in 2010 as the highest-paid player in the IPL, Pollard has become an international star and gained acclaim as one of the most entertaining players in the world.
Unfortunately, Pollard’s career was put at risk when he suffered a left knee injury during a charity soccer game in November 2013. After an MRI in his home country revealed a torn ACL, Pollard travelled to Pittsburgh seeking care by our own Dr. Freddie Fu MD.
Pollard returned to professional cricket just 3 months after ACL reconstruction with Dr. Fu, pulling down this amazing catch just 6 months after surgery.
With the 2015 IPL season shaping up to be Pollard’s best yet, he suffered another devastating knee injury in November 2015, this time to his right knee. Again following an MRI in his home country, he travelled to Pittsburgh seeking the care of Dr. Fu, who performed a second ACL reconstruction.
Interview by Pollard on 4/9/16, 4 months postop right ACL reconstruction.
Return to Cricket match on April 28, 2016.
Having had both ACL’s reconstructed by Dr. Fu, Keiron Pollard returns to cricket 5 months postop, after missing the 2016 World Cup in February. Earlier today, in a matchup between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders, Pollard scored 51 runs off 17 balls, including six 6's and one 4. With this performance, Pollard becomes the 4th fastest player to reach 50 runs in IPL history.
It is an incredible feat, akin to hitting 6 home-runs in a game! We congratulate Keiron on his swift recovery and great play today!
