The University of Pittsburgh Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to announce the promotion of Bryson Lesniak, MD, to Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine.
Dr. Lesniak is a nationally recognized orthopaedic surgeon, educator, researcher, and leader in sports medicine. He serves as a UPMC orthopaedic surgeon and team physician for the University of Pittsburgh, caring for student-athletes across multiple programs, including men's basketball and men's and women's soccer. He also serves as the head team physician for Carnegie Mellon University Athletics and has previously provided care for elite athletes as a team physician for the Miami Marlins and a traveling physician for U.S. Soccer developmental teams.
A respected expert in sports-related injuries of the shoulder and knee, Dr. Lesniak's clinical and research interests include shoulder instability, rotator cuff injuries, and complex cartilage and ligament injuries.
Dr. Lesniak earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan Health System, and returned to Pittsburgh to complete a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
